Te Kura o Mōkihi Spreydon School is a U4 contributing school situated in a busy urban environment. The community’s loyalty to the school is extreme. Spreydon School moved into a new site at 50 Hoon Hay Road in July 2018. The School buildings are purposely built for our School. We are very proud of our new learning spaces and the learning programmes that take place within them. We are now able to offer fixed-term positions due to our strong role.

Position: Fixed Term Scale A

The successful applicant will be likely to be working in the Years 1-4 area of the School. We invite applicants to outline the strengths and skills they will bring to the school and how they will support our school’s vision, values and aspirations of our diverse community. The successful applicant will show recent successful classroom practice, including expertise in conceptual-based curriculum delivery, classroom management and community engagement. The position may be suitable for a beginning teacher.

Position 3: Maternity Leave Scale A position for 2023

The successful applicant may be working in the Year 2-6 area of the School. We invite applicants to outline the strengths and skills they will bring to the school and how they will support our school’s vision, values and aspirations of our diverse community. The successful applicant will show recent successful classroom practice, including strong classroom management, conceptual-based curriculum delivery, and community engagement. The position may be suitable for a beginning teacher. Maternity Leave provisions are a condition of this position.

Teaching Position: Person Specification – Scale A Teacher

The person we are seeking will have:

  • Sound knowledge of educational principles and practice in Primary education, including recent successful experience in the classroom.
  • Sound knowledge of assessment practices and principles.
  • Sound knowledge of practices and principles relating to lifting student achievement and success.
  • Proven ability to be part of a team and to inspire and encourage staff and students.
  • Connect with the school’s vision and values
  • Promote student agency, key competencies and a growth mindset.
  • Be committed to teaching and learning in a collaborative learning environment that improves learning outcomes for all.
  • Work to agreed protocols within a collaborative environment and fully support colleagues.
  • Enthusiasm and expertise in using Digital Technology as a tool, including engagement of students while building teaching and learning activities
  • Knowledge and understanding of curriculum developments
  • Experience in Sharp Reading, Pause, Breath, Smile, conceptual curriculum and working in a Modern Learning environment would be an advantage.

  • The Appointment Panel will use the following criteria to make the selection for this position.    These are listed in random order.
  • The ability of the applicant to meet the requirements in areas determined as essential by the panel including appropriate qualifications.
  • The ability of the applicant to meet the requirements in other areas is determined as desirable by the panel.
