This week has been a wonderful week celebrating our whole-school performance of The Great Southern Spark.
Tamariki have worked extremely hard, and all the smiles during the performances clearly showed how proud they were to share their hard work with you and the school community who attended the matinee or evening performance.
We are extremely proud of all of our tamariki, as well as our Leads who have put in so much time and effort to learn their lines, stage positions, and actions. Everyone in our school has taken part in the production and we are very grateful for everyone taking on these roles to make our production a success.
Thank you to our school community for coming out to support our production. The tamariki were very happy to hear it was a sold out performance. Our ticket sale donations were put towards the cost of our lighting, sound and mics, which we are sure you would agree were well worth it!
A reminder to whanau who took the opportunity to take photos or videos at the performance of their own children, please be considerate of posting any photos if they have other children present, we ask that you do not share photos of other children online unless you have sought permission to do so.
Our Hauora Council were excited to share that we raised over $265 for the Child Cancer foundation after our Whacky Wednesday last week!
As this is the final newsletter of Term 3, we wish you all a restful term break and a chance to recharge, ready for our final term of 2026!

Entitlement vs Gratitude
As we end a very busy term and start feeling like we are coming out of those deary wintery days and dark nights, it is a chance to invite us to slow down and notice the many things we have to be grateful for: our warm and welcoming homes and classrooms, good friends, our whānau, and the people who care for us.
That grateful feeling brings joy.
Believe it or not, entitlement is a learned behaviour.
In this video, we look at what entitlement really is, how it develops over time, and most importantly, how to turn it around — raising kids full of gratitude.

Hello, my name is Sam and I have two children at Spreydon School, Isla (Year 4) and Harry (Year 2).
I joined the PTA committee in 2023 and have had the pleasure of being in the role of Secretary for the past two years.
During my time so far on the PTA, I’ve really enjoyed having the opportunity to meet other parents and whānau as we work together to support our school community. There are lots of different ways to get involved, from helping at bake sales, pizza lunches and popsicle sales, to supporting the bigger projects that our fundraising makes possible.
Thanks to the support of our whole school community, the funds raised over recent years helped make the much-loved addition of our new school Scooter Track possible.
The PTA is a great way to get involved in the school community, meet other families while making a difference for our children and we are always happy to welcome new faces and fresh ideas!
