Dear Spreydon School whānau,

We are looking forward to welcoming our tamariki and whànau back on Monday.

A heartfelt thank you to our school community for rallying around Sam, Olivia, Louie, and the Read family during this difficult time following the sad passing of Benji. We know that your continual support over the next few days and months will be greatly appreciated.

A reminder that Puhara 2 will be open starting Monday from 8:30 am to 9:00 am, and from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm, for parents to drop in and send messages or care to the Read family.

Our Spreydon Team has been working closely alongside the Ministry of Education to prepare for the start of Term 3 and to ensure we best support our students upon their return to school on Monday. Attached below is further guidance they have shared for parents and children to support with this transition.

What’s been happening at School over the term break?

Our school site has been a busy construction zone over the term break, and we have our fingers and toes crossed for continued clear weather so everything can be fully wrapped up.

The asphalt for our much awaited scooter track is being poured today!
While it is close to being ready, we need to allow the asphalt to settle, and some additional ground repair is required due to recent heavy rain and heavy trucks on our field.
Therefore the site fencing will remain up next week. With a bit of soil moving and reseeding it will quickly bring the area back to life.

Ahead of the scooter track opening, it is a perfect time to make sure your child has a helmet and a lock for their scooter, as we know everyone will be eager to use the new track.
Since many scooters look alike, whānau, please ensure your child’s scooter is clearly named or marked with distinct stickers. To avoid any lost scooters or taken by mistake, we recommend children bringing locks and locking the scooters. Our newer stands have chains that just require a padlock.

Team Mokihi has had quite a few changes to their building over the term break. Muka 1 and 2, as well as Harakeke 1 and 2, have had their spaces remodeled and are now separated by walls.

Although it was an extremely tight turnaround of just nine working days, the incredible commitment of the building team, alongside teachers coming in to set up on Sunday afternoon means these classrooms will be fully ready for learning on Monday.

We are looking forward to seeing you on Monday
