Enrol your child
We welcome a chance to talk to you about enrolling your child at Te Kura o Mōkihi Spreydon School. We realise it is a real privilege to be part of your child’s educational journey.
We can arrange a time to come and see our school in action with our Tumuaki Principal Andrea Stewart.
Alternatively, if you are in a zone (refer below), you can download an enrolment form using this link: Enrolment Form.
If your child is turning five soon, we welcome your questions and are happy to make time to meet with you. Please phone us on (03) 338 5033 or via our School email admin@spreydon.school.nz.
As part of our Turning 5 transition to school our New Entrant teacher visits your child’s pre school as part of their transition to Spreydon. We do recommend you completing your child’s enrolment form as early as possible so we can make sure they are able to visit before your child starts school.
Closer to your child’s start date a welcome pack is sent to your home with information about starting and a welcome to school booklet for your child.
We can accept International Students to our school. If you are looking for a placement for more than 10 weeks, please email admin@spreydon.school.nz for more information

Out of Zone Enrolments
Applications for enrolments will be processed in the following order of priority:
- First priority is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary for Education.
- Second priority must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student of the school.
- Third priority must be given to any student who is the sibling of a former student of the school.
- Fourth priority must be given to any applicant who is the child of a former student of the school.
- Fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of an employee of the school’s board or a child of a member of the school’s board.
- Sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.
Before the application deadline associated with each pre-enrolment period, a Board must, by public notice in a medium appropriate to the area served by the school:
- confirm the already advertised dates for the receipt of applications and for the holding of the ballot.
- state the likely number of out of zone places that remain available.
If there are more applicants in any priority group than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions by the Secretary, under Schedule 20, Clause 3 (1) of the Education and Training Act 2020. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by public notice in a medium appropriate to the area served by the school.
Applicants may be required to give proof of In Zone address, or proof to support their application if seeking enrolment under the Out of Zone priorities.
The guidelines for development and operation of enrolment schemes are issued under Schedule 20, Clause 3 (3) of the Education and Training Act 2020 for the purpose of describing the basis on which the Secretary’s powers in relation to enrolment schemes will be exercised.
